Interior painting of concrete, plaster, filler  treated, brick, cardboard, chipboard and wood fibre board surfaces. Suitable for both new and previously painted surfaces.

Recommended uses

Interior walls and ceilings in premises in which high wash and wear resistance is required such as lobbies, staircases, hospital corridors, patient rooms and other surfaces which are subject to higher than normal stress. The product has an approval for indirect contact in food industry (Finnish Food Act 23/2006).

Drying time at 23°C and 50% relative air humidity

APPLICATION DETAILS

Application conditions

The surface to be painted must be dry, the temperature of the air at least +5 ºC, and the relative humidity of the air below 80 %.

Preparation

Unpainted surface: 
Remove dirt and dust from the unpainted surfaces. If necessary, fill holes and cracks with suitable Tikkurila Presto filler. Sand the filler and remove sanding dust. Prime with Luja Universal Primer or Varma Primer. 
Previously painted surface: 
Wash down previously painted surfaces with Cleaning Agent (Maalipesu) according to instructions of use and let it dry. Remove loose, flaking paint with a scraper. Sand hard, glossy surfaces to a matt finish and remove sanding dust. Fill holes and cracks with a suitable Tikkurila Presto filler. Sand the filler and remove sanding dust. Prime with Ykköspohja, Luja Universal Primer or Varma Primer, if necessary. 

Painting

Stir Luja finishing paint well before use. Apply two finishing coats by brush, roller or spray.

Cleaning of tools

Clean tools with water. Use of Tikkurila Pensselipesu (Tool Cleaner) is recommended to be used to remove a bit harden paint from the brush.

Maintenance instructions

Cleanse the surfaces with neutral (pH 6 - 8) detergent using soft brush, sponge or cloth at the earliest 1 month after painting. Very dirty surfaces can be cleansed with lightly alkaline (pH 8 -10) detergent using e.g. a cleaning cloth or sponge. Rinse the surfaces carefully after cleaning. Follow the dilution instructions of the detergent manufacturer. 
The product achieves its final hardness and durability after one month under normal conditions, therefore the surfaces must be handled with care during this time. If the surfaces need to be cleaned soon after finishing, clean them lightly with a soft brush or damp cleaning cloth. 

Maintenance treatment

Surfaces painted with Luja Finishing paint can be repainted with similar water-borne paint. See Preparation.
