Product properties
Colourless wood impregnating agent (TL8) for impregnating the wood surface before final coating with
Pinotex woodcare products or wood paints. Helps prevent the spread of fungal diseases (rot, blue-stain)
and pests in wood. Absorbs deep into wood and helps to get bioactive substances deep into the wood.
Pinotex Base BPR is a solvent-based ready-to-use product that provides good adhesion to the
subsequent coatings and is suitable for use with water and solvent-based finishes. Suitable for DIY and
professional use.

Area of usage
New and previously cleaned outdoor wooden surfaces, eg wooden structures, log-houses, facades,
terraces, doors, window frames, fences. The product is suitable to use only on above-ground wooden
surfaces (according to EN335 class 2 and 3) that are not in contact with the ground or the aquatic
environment. The wood surface treated with the product must be covered with Pinotex woodcare
products or wood paints and regular maintenance painting must be ensured.

Restrictions on use
The product is not permitted for indoor use, except for exterior window frames and exterior doors
previously treated with the product in an outdoor environment. Do not use the product on wood that
may come into direct contact with food, feed or utensils.

Surfaces
Product is suitable for impregnating both sawn and planed wood surfaces. Do not use the product to
treat wood infected with fungi or pests.

Surface preparation

• Surface must be dry and clean from grease, dust and dirt. Material to be treated must be of good quality and free from fungal diseases (rotting, mold and blue-stain). At all stages of processing wood must be dry with a moisture content between 15-18%.
• Choose the appropriate surface treatment method to clean the surface. Avoid cleaning methods that can damage the wood (eg sand-blasting).
• Remove from the surface old paint layers and everything that may prevent impregnation product to penetrate into the surface.
• Make sure the wooden construction is well ventilated, the roof and the rainwater system and drainage would run smoothly.

Impregnating

• Read the product label and manual carefully before use.
• Make sure that the wooden surface is completely dry.
• Mix the product thoroughly before use and during work. The product is ready to use. Do not dilute.
• Apply Pinotex Base BPR on the surface with brush in 1-2 layers, but not more than 200 ml/m2. Apply each subsequent layer to the surface immediately after the previous layer has absorbed into wood.
• Apply the product in a continuous layer along the wood fiber. Treat the ends of the board with extreme care, impregnating them to saturation.
• Surface treatment must be done as early as possible. Leaving untreated wooden surfaces to weather exposure may influence the adhesion of finishing coats.

Finishing

• Apply the finishing coat not earlier than 24 hours after priming. In case of horizontal surfaces and increased primer consumption, it may take more than 24 hours for the surface to dry completely.
• Before applying finishing coat, make sure that the impregnated surface is sufficiently dry.
• Choose suitable topcoat from Pinotex selection either woodcare product or wood paint.

Recommendations for painting

• Required air and surface temperature when applying impregnation product is +8…30 °C (preferably +18 ± 2 °C), relative humidity < 80%. Avoid working in windy weather as well as in direct sunlight.
• Freshly treated wood must be covered or otherwise protected from rain until it is completely dry. Use the biocide safely.
• Handle the product and dry the freshly treated wood in a well-ventilated place.
• Do not treat wooden surfaces near water area. Avoid product to get on ground or water or drains.
• Use brush as application tool and apply the product in a continuous layer along the wood fiber.
• Before installing wooden board or similar parts, it is recommended to cover them with at least one layer from the back as well.
• Clean tools immediately after use, dried product can only be removed mechanically.
• Observe safety regulations during handling! Read the instructions before use. Wear protective clothing, goggles and chemical resistant gloves when working and work in a well-ventilated area. Avoid breathing vapor.
